Here yet another original character of Hong Kong’s free-wheeling port city days, is seen making his way from teenage street-side trader to current-day riches. Vaudine traced Harilela’s origins from far back in Sind, through his family’s moves through Singapore, China and Hong Kong. Now they have holdings in hotels and properties around the world. Again, archival research, oral history and readability made this project both fun and significant. It contributes another key part of Hong Kong’s diverse corporate and personal story.
